Sal explains that the first mysterious message means that one shouldn't judge people until one has been in their shoes. Is this the advice Phoebe follows? Give reasons to support your answer.
It is shown by Phoebe's encounter with the young man that, no, she doesn't follow this lesson in life.I think she is told by her mother to watch out for all strangers because they could be out to get you. The Winterbottoms may think very carefully about everything they do, say, and think, but do they really?
Phoebe does not follow the advice because of the things she thought when the young man was at the door. I think Phoebe worries too much about stuff like this and just because she doesn't know someone that doesn't mean that other person is bad. Phoebe uses her imagination way too much and she should judging people she doesn't know.
Phoebe doesn't follow the advice because she probably wants to be like her parents when she grows up. Her parents have mostikely never been is someone elses shoes. It's not a problem, it's just the way they are. I agree with Alec N. and JoseA.
I agree with you because kids do want to be like their parents most times but once they grow up they do not want to be like them. Maybe it is just one of those phases.
phoebe doesn't follow that statement for example with the man at the door she jumped to conclusions before she even saw the man. Also Sal even says that Phoebe is the person who is very paranoid.
This is not the advise that phoebe follows because she runs out of the drug store when she sees the potential lunatic instead of asking him why he left the notes at her door.
Phoebe does not follow this advice because she might think that the lunatic is stalking her and her family. Like when she saw the lunatic at the drugstore, leaving more than just one note, and also asking Phoebe questions when they suposdley first meet at her house. That's what I think Phoebe doesn't follow Sal's advice.
Phoebe does not follow this advice because right after that she judges the Finny Family about how loud they are and how careless they are. I kind of think the messages are for Phoebe because the first message was talking about not judging people. What if the crazy person sent that to Phoebe because maybe after they thought he was gone he came back and heard her talking about him? Just a thought.
I agree with you Johara, I also think that Phoebe does not follow the notes that the stranger at her door left. Sal does follow the note as it discribs her of her actions, while Phoebe judges people by what they do, or what they say, like when she said that the mother of the Finny's was crazy for sleeping in the garage. Phoebe never knows if there wasn't any more space inside the house because of Ben. She will never know if he was in her shoes. Someone has to be in somebody else's place to know their life style and to know who they are. They never know if she might like sleeping in the garage, we never know.
Phoebe does not follow in this advise because she is judging the man who she keeps seeing at her door and once at the drug store, by calling him a lunatic.

I don't think that Phoebe followed this advice because in the book she always think about strangers. She said that she is afraid of someone coming and pulling out a gun or something and she doesn't even know the people.
Well Noemi Santana Phoebe encountered him at a drug store and then freaks out because she possibly thinks certain strangers are bad. So if she starts to know him she won't freak out so lets don't jump straight into conclusions. Even though I agree with you we still have to find more of the book to see what happens next.
I think that the message means that she shouldn't judge people until you know them. It could also mean that she should be careful with strangers so they don't kidnap them. In conclusion she should not judge people but be careful with people you don't know.

I agree with you on your first sentence, but even though she is cautious about her surroundings doesn't mean she should jump to conclusions about how a stranger is. She may have been taught to keep her distance from strangers but she hasn't been taught to misjudge them
I don't think that Phoebe listens to what Sal is saying. To me Phoebe just dismisses what she is saying and starts to blame the messages on Sal's father. To me Phoebe totally misses what Sal is trying to say and just starts thinking about who put the messages on her porch.
I feel this saying does not matter to Phoebe, because in the story Phoebe sounds like a very subjective and cautious person when it comes to strangers. She might not follow the advice her parents giver her because she doesn't want to end up like them or just simply doesn't care.
I think that Phoebe does not follow this message at all because she only cares about the people around her like her family and friends. She does although make an effort to prove to Sal who are the good guys and who are the bad guys although they might not be right at all. The reason I think that Phoebe doesn't take the advice that the message gives her is because she still judges her neighbors as evil wicked witches. She also thinks that they are creepy and overreacted to the supposedly weird stranger.
I think that Phoebe doesn't follow this message because she is judging the man who works at the store and calling him a lunatic. If Phoebe were to get to know the man, she would no longer think he is a crazy man and would've learned that she misjudged him. She is also judging people by their appearance and not thinking about how they are on the inside.

Phoebe also thinks he left the note on her porch because she keeps seeing him at her door. She worries about lots of things. She never judges her family but she also judges her neighbor.
I say that Phoebe does not follow this advise because she judges everyone what they look. She judges Margret Cadaver, Mrs Cadaver, the girls brothers, and her family. She judges everyone she knows.
Phoebe doesn't follow the messege from that young man at her door from the store she jumps to her choices even though she doesn't know who he is. Like the message, Phoebe does the exact opposite and does not even bother. It's probably because it could like stranger danger in a sense except Phoebe could possibly be right trusting her senses.
I agree with you Benji R. I think that Phoebe just jumps to conclusions when she doesn't know the answer immediately. Like when she blurted out that she thought the strange man was a lunatic. All she needed to do was get more information about him, and then make the decision about his sanity.
I feel like Phoebe doesn't follow the message, I see Phoebe as a very paranoid girl who always thinks that bad people are out to get her and her family. Maybe she had a bad experience with someone which created a hunch for other people. She needs to learn how to meet people, and be both cautious and fun.
Phoebe dosen't follow the advice because she is like of person who dosen't care about others advice. She worry too much about stuff and stronger danger.

Phoebe doesn't follow that shes always calling people weird or judging people like Ms.Cadaver. Maybe she is the lunatic. The young man may be creepy but that doesn't make him a bad person.
I know that Phoebe does't follow the advice because she kept on being rude to people and calling them names and I think the reason why she is being mean to them is because she is a lunatic.

ReplyDeleteThis advice is not advice phoebe follows because she judged the Finny family for a lot of things. This list includes being rude, wild, and sloppy.
